November 2022
Dear Friend of Opera Connecticut,
As I write this, we are all moving rapidly (too rapidly maybe!) into the holiday season, with its joyfulness and craziness all wrapped together in equal measure. You may be considering end of year gifts for organizations you would like to support. We at Opera Connecticut hope you will include in your year-end planning a gift to us as well.
This past spring we staged our fresh take on an operatic classic, which we called “Prelude, Prologue, Pagliacci, at our mainstage home, the Hoffman Auditorium at The University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford. “PPP” featured a first-rate international cast with full orchestra, to critical acclaim.
This summer, we moved to what has become our summer home for the last few years, the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, for several “Some Enchanted Evening” operatic vocal concerts at Hill-Stead’s lovely sunken garden. There is no lovelier venue for an outdoor concert in central Connecticut, as our patrons can tell you!
And coming up shortly, we are returning to Hill-Stead (indoors this time) for two performances on December 10 of the beloved holiday opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. This is a favorite opera for children of all ages, and we encourage families to come and enjoy a timeless story set to beautiful music. Contact Hill-Stead for ticketing information. The weekend before that, on December 3, we will be inaugurating Amahl at Grace Academy in downtown Hartford. This is a benefit for Grace Academy students, but all are welcome! Your “fee” is a nonperishable food item, to bring to the performance. Please go to our website, operaconnecticut.org, for more information.
We know there are many demands on your time and resources, and we do not presume that Opera Connecticut is entitled to either. But we think that you, as a lover of music and singing, want a local source for highest quality, exciting, live operatic performances. And we hope you agree that our product is worthy of your financial support for the future.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this letter, and for your consideration of a gift to Opera Connecticut. Our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status ensures that your gift is 100% tax deductible.
We hope you have wonderful holidays and a happy and healthy 2023!
Very truly yours,
Nick
