Mission
At Opera Connecticut we believe in enriching the lives of the members of our community by offering high quality, affordable live opera performances. Today opera is not accessible and affordable to most Connecticut residents. Opera Connecticut exists to raise cultural awareness and arts education, and we do so by offering pre-performance conversations and outreach programs.
Our high quality operas and monthly concerts aim to create performance opportunities to emerging local artists. We are proud to be partnering with local venues such as museums, churches, art galleries, wineries, and breweries, where our audiences create a sense of belonging and community through music and visual arts.

Get to Know Us
Opera Connecticut (formerly Connecticut Concert Opera) brings the best of live opera to the state of Connecticut. Since 1991 we have brought wonderful singers to our productions and collaborated with the finest instrumentalists in the state. We believe in enriching the lives of the members of the Greater Hartford community by offering high-quality, affordable opera performances. Our company was formed more than 25 years ago by John Wadhams and a group of opera enthusiasts from Hartford who wanted to see live opera without having to travel to bigger cities like New York.
